What is the meaning of the scores and how are they useful to investors?

The UN SDG Impact Score of a portfolio measures how investments have the potential to create measurable impact for people and the planet across the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs). The SDGs module covers 16 of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (excludes #17 partnerships.) The methodology is built from the 52 (of 169) targets that were found to be business-applicable and measurable/quantifiable. It allows investors to:

  • Compare the external impact of investments across the common framework of the UN SDGs across goals and relative to benchmarks.
  • Serve as an initial screen for investors interested in sustainability
  • Determine both the level of sustainability in their existing portfolios and allow them to set targets aligned with the UN SDGs.
